Our Process is Exhaustive!

When we start a custom paint job, we first strip off the old paint and wash the metal to remove all oil contaminants.  The piece is then sent over to our body shop department. 

They then inspect the metal for cracks and leaks. If it is cracked or is leaking we ensure that we repair the damage by welding and then re-inspect the part.  All fuel tanks are pressure tested to 9 pounds per square inch.  All tabs and brackets are welded to insure that they will not break during the course of riding. The body shop does any necessary bodywork and preparation before sending the part on to our primer and preparation department.

The part is inspected once again to ensure the best quality. The pieces are then primed with a urethane primer.  It is baked and placed on the shelf to cure overnight. The piece is then prepared for painting with 500 grit wet dry paper and re-inspected before it goes on to our paint department.

Once it's in the paint Dept, we once again re-inspect it for quality.  A urethane sealer is applied and baked, the paint is applied and then the clear coats. It is then baked at 140 degrees for 1 hour. The cleat coat is then sanded with 800 grit and inspected for graphics. The graphics are then applied and recleared for quality, and baked again. The clear is sanded for pin striping and inspected for the finial clear coat. Once it is cleared and baked it is left on the shelf for at least 24 hours to cure. Then the clear coat is then sanded with 1200 grit and 2000 grit and it is now ready to polish. The part is polished to perfection and under coated.  It then goes to final inspection before it is packed or delivered.

All our work is warranted to be free from imperfections, cracking, peeling, discoloring, hazing, or bubbling. One thing that we do here at KC Customs is take pride in our workmanship and we demand the best quality for our past, present and future customers.
